Overview

Service Workers Training and Education Partnership Fund (STEP) is the benefit fund for Unite Here Local 23 and its employer partners. The organization offers important training for union hospitality workers and their families. 

Objectives

STEP was creating its first annual report and wanted to showcase its successes in a way that was compelling to all of its stakeholders. The resulting document would serve as the foundation for future annual reports. 

Implementation

Through the process of writing and designing this annual report, we advised STEP on the structure and content strategy that would bring to life their valuable training. For example, we worked with STEP to get quotes from hospitality workers about their experience. These humanized STEP’s impact. We also leaned on data to tell STEP’s story: we included information about success rates and classes.

We knew that multiple stakeholders were going to be reading the report, so we created a visualization to show how STEP serves each group.
